Nushrat Bharucha is basking in the glory of the success of her film, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, which has turned out to be one of the biggest grossers of 2018 so far. Here’s how she celebrated her birthday on Thursday.

Actor Nusrat Bharucha first made her mark in Pyar Ka Punchnama (though she made her film debut with 2010’s Love Sex Aur Dhokha), the freak hit of 2011. The film about three harried boys with demanding and manipulative girlfriend was a roaring comedy and was well received. Nushrat’s performance as a girl who easily controls her guy was well appreciated as the actor was completely convincing in it. In 2015, the film’s sequel Pyar Ka Punchnama 2 too hit the bull’s eye. However, it is Luv Ranjan’s next film, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety, that completely changed the equations of the game. While the previous two films were decent successes, the latter has become the one of the top grossers so far this year, entering the ₹100 club with ease.

Small wonder, the film’s lead pair, Kartik Aaryan and Nushrat Bharucha, are the talk of the town. Nushrat’s name was also dragged into a needless controversy when she was linked to the film’s director Luv. Both stoutly refuted such rumours.

On Thursday, the lady in question celebrated her birthday by throwing a party in Bandra. In attendance was her Sonu Ke... co-star Sunny Nijar, director Luv Ranjan and actor Rakul Preet Singh. Also present was T-Series head honcho Bhushan Kumar and his beautiful wife Divya Khosla Kumar. Conspicuous by his absence was Nushrat’s co-star in her three films, Karthik Aaryan.

Meanwhile, Nushrat spent a major part of the morning at an NGO called Smile Foundation at Andheri, Mumbai, where she also cut a cake with children present there. Speaking about her plan to spend time in an NGO, Nushrat told DNA, “The thought came to me when I was shooting for a scene in Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety where I played a girl working for a NGO. There was this scene where I am with children from the less privileged background and I am distributing chocolates and cakes. It was so much fun being around the kids that I thought I should do this on my birthday.”

Nushrat had plans to present her mother with a brand new car, the report added.
