Ranbir will do Kishore Kumar biopic if made after 2017: Basu

There have been reports that Aamir Khan may play the titular role. There is, however, no official confirmation on this.

Director Anurag Basu says he is keen to start biopic on legendary singer-actor Kishore Kumar next year, a slot when Ranbir Kapoor is unavailable, but if the project gets further pushed, the actor will be on board for it.

Months ago, it was announced that Ranbir would essay the role of Kishore Kumar but Basu says at the moment, the actor is not part of the movie as he doesn’t have dates next year. “The biopic is definitely happening. Ranbir Kapoor is not doing it right now. If I start it in 2017 then Ranbir will not be able to do it... then I will go with some other actor. And Ranbir is okay with it. He has also told me that if it is further delayed (to 2018) then he will be able do it,” said Basu.

According to the filmmaker, the family of Kishore Kumar is feeling restless about the impending status of the biopic. “The director is ready, producer is ready, family of Kishore Kumar is ready. They are waiting for it to start, they are getting restless. They were too excited to start the film soon,” he said.
