Turning Amitabh Bachchan’s suave and dapper look in to a boisterous and outlandish one for his forthcoming film Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap wasn’t an easy task for stylist Leepakshi Ellawadi. To ensure she got everything right, director Puri Jagannadh gave her a detailed brief and described the distinct looks Bachchan needed to carry for various scenes.

“My brief was to re-launch a hero who is in his 20s, not in his 60s,” says Ellawadi. “Mr Bachchan opened his wardrobe for us and I was surprised to see that he had a huge collection of bright solid colours, glares and shoes. He even had leopard print pants.”
However, convincing Bachchan to experiment with his looks at this age wasn’t an easy task. "But after the narration and conversations, he agreed," says Jagannadh, adding, "We haven’t seen him like this in a long time. In other films he’s dressed as an impeccable office-going corporate head honcho. I wanted his look to be a complete contrast to that because his character, that of an ex-don, is such."
