Real-life couple Abhay Deol-Preeti Desai to team up in film

Now, we have heard that the duo is all set to work together in Devika Bhagat’s directorial debut, One By Two.

“Abhay and Preeti are confirmed. In fact, he is going to co-produce the film under his yet-to-be launched production house, IE Films. The film, in all likelihood, will go on the floors around March,” says an insider close to the production. Preeti was supposed to do a cameo in Abhay’s Rock The Shaadi but the film has been shelved.

Devika has worked extensively as a successful screenplay writer on films like Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012), Aisha (2010), Bachna Ae Haseeno (2008) and the Abhay-starrer Manorama Six Feet Under (2007). Calling One By Two a “slice of life” film, Devika, who has been trained in filmmaking at New York University, says that Abhay was initially only supposed to co-produce the film.

“But when I finished working on the story, he was impressed with it and decided to act as well. I know he is very picky but it wasn’t difficult to convince him because he was sure about the storyline,” says Devika, who has also worked on the story and screenplay of the John Abraham-starrer I, Me Aur Main, which releases this year.

Was it easy to rope Preeti in since the couple doesn’t like to talk about their relationship? “I don’t know about that, but when I narrated the story to them, both of them agreed because they fit the characters so well,” says Devika, who plans to continue working on independent stories and screenplays even after her directorial debut.
