releases next month, says that the film may have a feel of the 1970s, but he has not copied a trend. “We have not copied a trend for the technical crew to create a ‘happy’ looking film,” he says.
“I think it is coincidental that my film is also releasing this year. The film is based on a Gujarati play. Retro has the best connect with today’s generation because the ‘70s were colourful and had fantastic music. RD Burman created a new sound and even in the west, Saturday Night Fever was the rage. The film is not a spoof but a stylised look at the ‘70s,” he says, adding that shooting in the 70s get up was very difficult in the heat in Karjat. “The shooting took place in Karjat, where temperatures would rise to 50 degrees. Some people even fainted. Actors had to wear wigs and to top it we had to cover sweat stains on clothes. It was very difficult,” he says.
