They created on-screen Magik with Rock On. And now, Farhan Akhtar and company are set to restore the magic with a sequel to the 2008 hit. In fact, plans are afoot to kick off Abhishek Kapoor’s Rock On 2 immediately after Farhan wraps up Rakeysh Mehra’s Bhaag Milkha Bhaag.

"Right now, Abhishek is giving final touches to the screenplay. Farhan and Ritesh (Sidhwani) are in constant touch with him. They plan to take Rock On 2 on floors sometime mid-2011," says a team member of Farhan and Ritesh’s company, Excel Entertainment.

Although the makers remain tightlipped about details, Farhan is expected to reprise the role of Adi while Arjun Rampal will return as Joe. Purab Kohli is also expected to return as KD, but Luke Kenny won’t make a return as he died at the end of Rock On.

At the same time, the movie adaptation of Chetan Bhagat’s novel, 3 Mistakes of My Life, has been put on hold. “Yes, it’s on hold right now,” says Farhan, adding, “There are reasons between the director and writer, the details of which we can’t get into. But yes, the film is on hold.”

For the time being, Farhan is focusing only on Bhaag Milkha Bhaag, which will also feature Sonam Kapoor as the female lead.

“Sonam is a good actor, and I have known her for a long time. I am sure we will have a great time,” says Farhan.
