Looks like Saif Ali Khan will soon have one more dud written next to his name. If the box office collection of the opening day of his film with Katrina Kaif, Phantom, is any measure, this Kabir Khan-directed film seems all set to disappear from the screens without much of a fight. The film collected a disappointing Rs 8.46 crore on Friday, the day it was released. Trade analysis Taran Adarsh has tweeted about the film’s business.
Perhaps it won't be prudent to write off this Phantom just yet, given that it could pick up steam over the weekend. But the fact is that all the hype and hysteria around the film falls flat on its face if we were to consider what some other big banner films raked in on their opening days. Salman Khan's Bajrangi Bhaijaan earned Rs 27.25 cr on its first day while Akshay Kumar's Brothers gathered Rs 15.20 crore on its opening day.

{{/usCountry}}Phantom, made at a budget of Rs 55 crore, was the only big release of the week. Based on S Hussain Zaidi’s bestseller Mumbai Avengers, the film is the story of a team of undercover agents assigned to eliminate the mastermind of Mumbai's 26/11 attacks.
Phantom also features Katrina Kaif and Bengali actor Sabyasachi in important roles. This is Kabir Khan’s second film this year. His earlier film Bajrangi Bhaijaan turned out to be a blockbuster at the ticket window.
