For the last couple of years, producer Sajid Nadiadwala has celebrated his birthday with a bang. All thanks to actor-buddies like Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar, who host surprise parties for him. However, since the stars are busy on their respective outdoor schedules this time, the maker of films like Housefull and Anjaana Anjaani can have a quiet birthday at home with his family. Besides, with five movies ready to take off, starting with Housefull 2 this May, Nadiadwala will have enough reasons to celebrate.

"My friends also joke that their surprises don’t surprise me anymore," laughs Nadiadwala, "After a point, we enjoy celebrating our children’s birthdays more and then, they plan surprises for us. If you ask me, I’m happiest working on my movies."

HousefullFirst up, Sajid Khan will begin filming Housefull 2, the sequel to Akshay Kumar’s biggest commercial hit. The producer, who once, was reportedly working on sequels for Judwaa and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, says, "You can’t make a sequel just because the first has been a hit. The audience’s connect with the characters determines whether they can be taken further. That’s why we’re making Housefull 2."

Interestingly, Deepika Padukone, Lara Dutta and Jiah Khan won’t be seen in the sequel. Instead, Asin and Jacqueline Fernandez have been paired with Kumar and John Abraham, while the girls opposite Riteish Deshmukh and Rahul Khanna are yet to be finalised. "The two main characters from the first are driving the story ahead. So we have newer characters essayed by John and Rahul," says he.

Next, the producer will start Kick, an action romance with Salman Khan and Sonakshi Sinha, under the aegis of Shirish Kunder. Apart from other elements, the producer plans on bringing down an action director from Hollywood. “It’s too early to say anything now as we’ll start the shoot in October,” he shrugs.

Before this year ends, Nadiadwala will begin his third venture, helmed by Vishal Bhardwaj. Based on Chetan Bhagat’s Two States, the movie adaptation is believed to topline Shah Rukh Khan, though the actress is yet to be finalised. Then, there is Sabir Khan’s romcom with Shahid Kapoor, followed by a love story with Imtiaz Ali.
