Salman Khan pushes the boundaries for Kick

Salman Khan goes all out in action sequences in Sajid Nadiadwala's directorial debut Kick. Nearly 57 cars, 13 buses and one ­helicopter have been blown up in the movie.

Salman Khan isn’t new to action sequences, what with stunts in films such as Wanted (2009), Dabangg (2010), Ek Tha Tiger (2012). Now, in his ­upcoming film, Kick, sources claim that he’s all set to raise the bar. Not for nothing then has producer-turned-debutant ­director Sajid Nadiadwala blown up nearly 57 cars, 13 buses and one ­helicopter.

According to an insider, “This is the first time that a production team has arranged for the given number of vehicles to be exploded in a film like this. It’s also the first time that drones have been used to shoot a (Bollywood) film."

Nadiadwala explains, "I like to make films which are larger than life. A ­particular sequence in the film sees Salman drive through the city ­creating a ruckus. We first shot in London, but couldn’t complete it as Salman couldn’t make it there. Then, we moved to Poland (they shot in Warsaw). The quiet city had never seen anything of that sort before. Of course, Salman insisted on doing the stunts ­himself."

The actor, on his part, is happy to have been part of the action. “I’ve been lucky to get producers who are willing to spend money. We, as heroes, can kick only that high, or jump that much ... that is when visualisers come in, technology comes in, and safety comes in … all of this take us (as actors) to a new level,” says Salman.
