Shaitan, a Hollywood script?

The concept of the film, Shaitan, was first born in Hollywood. To the extent that it was supposed to be a complete Hollywood film and was to be produced by Ashok Amritraj, who was supposed to do the honours for the writer-director who won the reality show Getaway.

But due to unknown reasons Amritraj backed out last minute, leaving Bejoy Nambiar, the winning contestant behind with an English script. However, the director never gave up and continued to hope that his film would one day be made.

For years he worked on the story and re-wrote it in Hindi and readied it with Indian references for the audiences here. Finally, two years later the film is now being produced by Anurag Kashyap and stars Kalki Koechlin. The film about teenage angst will also see Rajeev Khandelwal return to the big screen. Kalki plays the role of a spoilt brat.
