Actor Shilpa Shetty’s last film, The Desire — A Journey of a Woman, produced by her mother Sunanda, has been winning quite a few awards lately.

Though the film hasn’t been released in India as yet, it won the ‘best narrative feature film’ at the Geneva Film Festival, it was also screened at the Boston International Film Festival and was the official selection at the 2011 New York City Interna-tional Film Festival.

The latest festival that the film seems to have bowled over is the LDN Film Festival. The film also won the best actress award for Shilpa Shetty’s portrayal of an Indian classical dancer who ends up becoming a monk. Says a source, “The Desire is doing really well at the international circuit, winning accolades at many film festivals. It’s a brave film and is sure to win hearts given its subject and treatment”.

Produced by 10 Golden Star Entertainment, Sunanda Shetty’s home production is written and directed by R Sarath and also stars actors Anupam Kher, Jaya Prada, Vikram Gokhale, Sachin Khedekar and Chinese actor Xia Yu.
