Their last collaboration, Rowdy Rathore, was a blockbuster, so it isn’t surprising that there is buzz surrounding Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next project together, Gabbar. There has also been quite a lot of speculation about the leading lady to be paired opposite Akshay.

For some time, names like Shruti Haasan and Amala Paul did the rounds, but it seems Shraddha Kapoor has won this race. The makers have roped in the star of the sleeper hit Aashiqui 2 as the film’s heroine.

"The call was taken by Sanjay sir. He was keen to see Akshay pair up with Shraddha because they have never worked together. The audience too will see a new couple on the big screen. Plus, he was happy with Shraddha’s performance in Aashiqui 2."

"The film goes on the floors early next year," says an insider.

Akshay has worked with freshers like Kajal Agarwal in 'Special 26' and Tamannah Bhatia in his upcoming film, 'It’s Entertainment'.
