Singham Returns showcases the religious Mumbai Police

Besides the impressive action scenes, Rohit Shetty’s Singham Returns, also highlights a religious side of the Mumbai Police. It shows a group of cops, headed by Ajay Devgn, visiting the famous Mahim Dargah during the auspicious Urs festival to offer the holy chaddar (sheet).

Besides having impressive action scenes, director Rohit Shetty’s new release, Singham Returns, also highlights a religious side of the Mumbai Police.

It shows a group of cops, headed by Ajay Devgn, visiting the famous Mahim Dargah during the auspicious Urs festival to offer the holy chaddar (sheet). And, we have come to know that this portrayal is based on an actual practice.





Talking about the portrayal of the ritual in the film, Rohit says, "For decades, the Mumbai Police has been offering the first chaddar at the Mahim Dargah and we have highlighted it in the movie."

Interestingly, the film has got the highest opening-day collection of the year so far, says trade. When contacted, trade expert Taran Adarsh says, "Singham Returns has collected `32.09 crore on its opening day (Friday, August 15). It is a popular franchise. Ajay (Devgn) and Rohit (Shetty) are also brands and people were looking forward to their film," he says.
