An actress’s tresses are an asset to be treasured, looked after and rarely messed with. The ones who like to experiment might do it for personal reasons, but opting for a drastically different look is rare.

And even more unheard of among the leading ladies is going in for radical changes for a role in a movie. But that is precisely what Sonam Kapoor has opted to do for her upcoming film. She will apparently be cutting her tresses for the remake of Khubsoorat (1980).

A source says, “She will start shooting for the film soon and will need to change her look. Sonam will cut her waist-length hair for the role and go for a shoulder-length hairstyle.” Apparently, the fashion-conscious actor was also offered an option to sport a wig in the movie, but she wanted the character to look real and believable. That prompted her decision to chop off her long hair.

"Sonam loves her long hair and feels the style suits her best. However, her role demands a different look, so she agreed to cut it. The decision was a tough one for her, but she felt it would help her get into the skin of her character,” says the source.

Hairstylist Avan Contractor will be giving her the makeover after Diwali. Sonam’s role in the remake is that of a physiotherapist and her look will be one of a simple girl-next-door.

Sonam confirms the development. She says, “Yes, it is a drastic look change. I’d love my hair to be long, but it is the requirement of my character, so I convinced myself to do it."
