Chitrangada says she fails to understand why she is in the spotlight for just doing a dance number. “It’s just a song at the end of the day and I don’t understand what the big deal is about an item number. We had songs in Mughal-e-Azam and they were never termed as item songs. You just remember the song and the dance and it’s beautiful,” she says.

“If we do it in a certain way, and there is nothing objectionable about the lyrics or dance steps, then I don’t know why anything becomes objectionable or has to be explained,” she adds. The actor also does not like being counted in the league of actors who have turned into item girls.

“I get irritated by the term item number but I do understand that it’s a way of people to understand that you are not a part of the film but just doing a song. I think it’s about just tagging the actor. It’s good to keep changing tags as an actor. I have been tagged before and now I have got another one," she said.

Choreographed by Farah Khan, the song sees the 36-year-old bearing a striking resemblance to that of actor Madhuri Dixit’s look in the song Humko Aajkal Hai from Sailaab (1990). Chitrangada says she wanted to bring about the dancing diva’s sensuousness to the song.
