Ali Zafar and Yami Gautam’s forthcoming film, Total Siyapaa, revolves around the love story of an Indian girl and a Pakistani boy. Since the film is a light-hearted comedy, the makers decided to make funny references to public figures. The trailer that was recently released makes a reference to popular Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi. However, the cricketer doesn’t seem to have taken it too well.

A source close to the production house reveals, “Shahid Afridi’s name has been used in the film. The cricketer recently saw the trailer of the film and was keen to know in what context have the makers used his name. Afridi has also written to them, demanding the same.”
The producers are quite confident of this being taken in absolute jest by the cricketer.
The source adds, “There’s nothing serious about the Afridi reference. Because it’s a cross-border love story, the makers chose to refer to him. They do not mind showing the film to him soon. They have been trying to talk to him through various mediums . They don’t only want to reply to the official email but also explain in detail as to how this has been done only for entertainment purposes.”
Ask Ali about this development and the actor says, “The banter shown in the trailer is just part of a conversation between the lead actors and it doesn’t end there. There is a lot more to the film than just that.”
