Vidya Balan to do a lead role in Marathi film?

Marathi film director Subodh Bhave offered Vidya Balan the lead role in his next film last month; she is yet to take a call.

Apart from acting in Hindi films, Vidya Balan has also done a Bengali and a Malayalam movie. In fact, she will soon also make her Marathi film debut with a special appearance in Ek Albela. She plays the role of yesteryear Bollywood actor Geeta Bali in the film. Now, we have come to know that Vidya has been offered the lead role in a Marathi movie.

“When Vidya visited the sets of a Marathi TV show last month to promote her first Marathi film, she met popular Marathi film director Subodh Bhave. He was impressed with the fact that Vidya could speak Marathi fluently. The next day, he told her that he has a script that is apt for her,” says a source close to the actor.

Apparently, Vidya liked the story brief. “But she had to leave for Jharkhand for the shoot of her next Bollywood film. So, she couldn’t meet Subodh for the narration. She will do that when she returns to Mumbai around mid-July,” says the source.

We tried contacting Vidya, but she remained unavailable for a comment.
