They could have been Bollywood’s original power couple. But while Ajay Devgn’s film career has, arguably, reached its zenith now, wife Kajol’s is erratic at best. Point out the unfairness, and she says, “People will make commercially successful movies. So while we say that we want more women-oriented films, will that movie make Rs.100 crore? No! And at the end of the day, the profit is the bottom line.”

However, fans of the National Award-winning actor needn’t be disheartened. “I want to do at least three more films that will go down in history,” she says, adding, “I’m looking for scripts right now. Ajay and I have discussed collaborating, but we haven’t decided anything yet because we’re busy with Son Of Sardar that is due to release soon.”

Currently adorning the cover of fashion magazine Vogue, which celebrates her as an ageless beauty, Kajol admits that she’s glad to have had her time in the sun when she did.

Insisting that people should be complimented for their individuality, rather than being forced to fit a mould, she says, “Today, newcomers aren’t even given a chance to prove themselves. If their first film doesn’t do well, they’re out. And there’s so much emphasis on being a size zero, wearing the right brands. I don’t think I would have been able to handle this pressure.”

So has this long-awaited recognition for her brand of beauty made her anxious to get back into the grind? “I don’t think I will ever be off the market as an actress,” she retorts, adding, “I want to act even when I’m 70. I could play the sexy, stunning grandmother.”
