What makes Aamir Khan a favourite with visually-impaired children

Apparently, since the release of Fanaa, these fans have often sent letters to him, and have stood by him over the years.

In 2006, Aamir Khan won over critics as well as audiences with his work in Fanaa, in which he romanced a blind girl (played by Kajol). Since then, the actor has had a huge fan base among the visually-impaired, especially children. After the film released, he was invited to several blind schools and NGOs that run special schools for such kids. “He continued to interact with his special fans for a long time even after the film’s release,” says an insider.

Now, we have come to know that until a few days back, Aamir was receiving letters, phone calls and messages from several visually-impaired children, who conveyed their support to the actor when he was going through a difficult phase (after his comments regarding the growing intolerance in India snowballed into a big controversy). “It was a very difficult period for Aamir. So, he was touched with this gesture. In fact, he even told his family members about this, as he wasn’t expecting such support from his visually-impaired fans,” adds the insider.
