Will Kunal be the new Emraan for Bhatts?

As Emraan Hashmi signs up films outside family banner, uncle Mahesh Bhatt says he will push his Blood Money actor Khemu in Bollywood: "Kunal has extraordinary talent. And we’re committed to giving him the necessary vehicle that can help bring his talent to full bloom..."

He hit popularity charts with multiple Bhatts’ ventures such as Murder (2004), Gangster (2006), Jannat (2008), Raaz – The Mystery Continues (2009) and Murder 2 (2010). But co-incidentally, even as Emraan Hashmi tests new waters—besides Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatt’s Vishesh Films—the production house is set to invest in another ‘asset’, Kunal Khemu, who stars in their upcoming film, Blood Money.

“Kunal has extraordinary talent. But for some reason, he has been held back in managing his film career. But with his new determination and Blood Money, he’s made a fresh beginning. And we’re committed to giving him the necessary vehicle that can help bring his talent to full bloom,” says Bhatt senior.

At the same time though, Bhatt maintains that they "already have a star in Emraan, who’s going from strength to strength." He adds: "However, we would not be leaning only on Emraan because our company doesn’t believe in depending only on one star. So, I would give my complete and unrelenting support to Kunal in his future films."

“Emraan is already doing Raaz 3 with us (this year) and will do another film by the end of the year. He is going beyond our company to explore other directors and production houses. It’s good for both, him and us. I’m not a stupidly possessive uncle who would want to keep him tied to my production house. Emraan is a major asset but we have to create more assets, and Kunal is an actor we want to invest in,” he says.
