Women’s Day: Radhika Apte calls for pay parity in the film industry

As we celebrate Women’s Day today, actor Radhika Apte says there is too much hierarchy in the industry; touches upon subjects like pay parity and gender equality.

Actor Radhika Apte bats for equality in the industry, this International Women’s Day.The 31-year-old says that there must be equality in all aspects, like pay parity between female and male actors. “Of course, there has to be more equality on that front. In fact, not just gender, there must be equality in everything else too,” says Radhika.

The Parched actor says where payments and contracts are concerned, we must strive for better and timely pay as well. “There is way too much hierarchy in t he industry as it is in society. What I’d like the industry to do is to have fair contracts and we need to pay people on time. We also need to respect people’s time and money. I think these are very important things as any profession goes. It will be good if that changes,” she says.
