The making of That Girl In Yellow Boots took more than a financial toll on director Anurag Kashyap. For the time he was working on the film, it also strained his relationship with girlfriend and lead actor Kalki Koechlin.

"When you are shooting for such difficult scenes with someone you love, it becomes very hard to draw the line and pick between being a jealous boyfriend and a professional director," says Kashyap. "The making of this film was a very tough period for Kalki and I. We would drive to the location in silence, not knowing what to say to each other, thinking of the scenes that we were about to shoot."

The dark film revolves around the journey of a masseuse (Kalki Koechlin), who reaches India in search of her father. Some scenes required Koechlin — who has also co-written the film — to get intimate with the male lead. The pressure of performing in front of Kashyap caught up with the actor too.

"It was weird. I went up to him and asked him why he wasn’t performing the scene correctly, and he was looking at me and hearing me say things like ‘Why can’t you kiss her right?’" says Kashyap.

"But none of the scenes are vulgar or titillating in any manner. We even cleared the censor board without too much cut." Kashyap, who raised about Rs 2.5 crore to make the film, has still not sold the distribution rights. But he continues to be thankful for being a part of Bollywood.

Meanwhile, asked what he thinks of brother Abhinav Kashyap’s film Dabangg, which is breaking records at the box office, Kashyap says, “It’s the Sholay of 2010. He has to keep making money so I can keep making films (laughs)! People say I don’t have marketing sense. If I didn’t, then why would I have a girlfriend who makes money, a brother who is cracking it at the box office and filmmakers such as Vikramaditya Motwane who will be there to work with me? I am totally sorted!”
