Zoa Morani, who made a forgettable debut as an actor in Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies production Always Kabhi Kabhi this year, now claims that veteran filmmaker Shyam Benegal has signed her for his next film. However, Benegal denies the news, saying, “I have been auditioning many actors and she was one of them. But I definitely haven’t signed her.”

Benegal refuses to talk about his upcoming project till everything is locked and in place. “Things may or may not happen,” he points out.
A source close to Zoa however insists that Benegal has narrated the script to Zoa at a screen-testin the city. The actor is said to auditioning for the role of the female lead.
Zoa has been shuttling between Delhi and Mumbai over the last few months. And the actor doesn’t deny it. She asserts, “I’m honoured that Shyam
ji
thought of me.”
Life hasn’t been easy for Zoa. Her father, Karim Morani, was arrested for his alleged involvement in the 2G scam, weeks before the release of her first film. “The year was tough but it taught me a lot,” she admits, adding on an optimistic note, “Hopefully, everything will be alright now.”
