2.4 lakh Potter book copies out, go grab yours

It is a Saturday morning, but unlike any ordinary one for muggles around the world. The 'P Day' is finally here. And millions are anxious to know the conclusion of

Already, 2.4 lakh copies have been dispatched throughout the country, and bookshops will have started selling them from 6.30 am. Penguin India, which is distributing Harry Potter in the country, says this is the most number of copies it has ever distributed as its first stock. Thomas Abraham, president, Penguin India, says, "We expect at least 1.6 lakh copies to sell on the first day."

Technorati, a search engine for blogs, lists 4.87 lakh recent blog posts on the new Harry Potter book. And ever since JK Rowling, the author, mentioned that two characters will die in the last book of the series, the internet has generated millions of spoilers and rumours. Fans have already protested against the thought of Harry dying.

But 17-year-old Amira Bhargava has a different plan in mind. "I may even skip school to read the new Harry Potter," she says. "It's the only thing I plan to do this weekend before I meet my friends on Monday."
