The new work, "Our Jing Ke", consists of three plays, according to Chen Liming, from publisher Beijing Genuine and Profound Culture Development Company, state news agency Xinhua reported late Friday.

"Our Jing Ke" is one of the plays, and is an adaptation of a story about an assassin's failed attempt to kill a king who went on to become China's first emperor nearly 2,000 years ago, the report said.

He did not give details of the other two plays, "Farewell to My Concubine" and "Wife of the Boiler Worker".

A new anthology of Mo Yan's works will also be published at the end of the month, Chen is quoted as saying by Xinhua, which added that the writer's books have been flying off the shelves since he won the Nobel Thursday.

His previous works include the 2009 novel "Frog", which looks at China's one-child policy, and his best-known work abroad, the 1987 novella "Red Sorghum", about brutal violence in the Chinese countryside in the 1920s and 30s
