New Yorkers were warned to take cover as the hurricane approached but the 38-year-old star ignored the alarms and headed to an independent book-store to greet her fans, reported Daily Mail.

The Shakespeare in Love star spoke about her new cookbook titled My Father's daughter. The book signing was held in a tiny shop called BookHampton, with some of the money raised going to a local charity.

"Gwyneth is a great friend and neighbor of our bookstore, and we are delighted to invite the entire community to this great event," said Charline Spektor, who is the store owner.

Paltrow offers up 150 recipes in the book from her father, the late film and television director and producer Bruce Paltrow. Proceeds from the day's sales will benefit the East Hampton Food Pantry.
