, compiled by a team comprising quiz whiz Siddhartha Basu, also the producer of the show from Big Synergy, will hit stands today across the country. The book, launched last week in Mumbai by host Amitabh Bachchan, is already pre-booked.

Kapish Mehra, the owner of Rupa & Co, the book’s publishers, confirms the news and says, “The subscription was double of its first print run. We’ve rarely had this kind of a situation where our first edition is overbooked or should I say, oversubscribed, even before it hits the stands. It’s a positive sign.”

The first edition of the book runs into 90,000 copies, of which 20,000 were ordered from Bachchan’s hometown of Allahabad. “There’s no denying the fact that Bachchan sir’s following is unprecedented and he’s a rage there. I’m not surprised that there’s a street named after him. I’m sure once the show is on air, the demand for the copies will shoot up,” says Mehra.

Quizmaster Basu, the mastermind behind the four-option questions on the show, and many others for the last 20 years, has edited and compiled the book. Would it help contestants and viewers answer questions on the show? Basu says, “No, it’s an interesting book which I’m sure everyone will get to learn from. As for help on answering the questions on the show, I’d say that the contestants are well-prepared and the audience just needs to be fine-tuned with all that’s happening around them, because every question counts.”
