On August 26, Mother Teresa’s 100th birth anniversary, Amar Chitra Katha will launch a title, tracking her life and times. This is the first title by the comic book label in four years. It will be followed by a new title every two months on epics, mythology, popular visionaries, fables, folktales and classics."Mother Teresa was our first choice for this book because her life story is exceptionally inspiring. She was 12 when she decided to dedicate her life to the well being of others. It’s an important lesson for the current generation because they are confused about life and what to make of it," says Savita Pai of ACK Media.

Pai, her colleague Reena Puri, the editor of Amar Chitra Katha and their team of researchers flagged off work on the 40-page book at Kolkata’s Missionaries Of Charity. "We met the first sister who joined Mother Teresa back in the day. She recalled several inspiring instances, which are lesser known and authentic. She became a key source of information for us. Without her assistance, the book wouldn’t have materialised," says Puri.

The title on Mother Teresa talks about how she made India her home and reached out to the world to help people in poverty and loneliness.
