Hold on to your plates —– two cookbooks authored by Dilliwaalahs may soon be crowned the ‘Best in the World’, beating competition from 135 other nations.

Both books — The Moti Mahal Cook Book-On the Butter Chicken Trail and Big Bee’s Secret Honey Recipes — have been nominated for different categories at the distinguished Gourmand World Cookbook Awards 2010.

Last week, they were declared the best in India in their respective categories by the Awards jury. The Moti Mahal Cook Book-On the Butter Chicken Trail by Monish Gujral (Penguin India) has won in the ‘Best Recipe Book’ and ‘Best Asian Cuisine Book’ categories, while Big Bee’s Secret Honey Recipes by Komal Taneja (Undercover - Utopia) has swept three awards — for ‘Best Desserts Book’, ‘Best Cookbook Cover’, and ‘Best Food Sector Corporate Book’.

“Initially it took a while for the news to sink in, but then I was ecstatic that such an honour was bestowed on me. The feeling of being the author of the best cookbook, in those categories, enthralled me,” says Gujral. Taneja says, “I am feeling awesome, it’s almost like having goosepimples. A lot of hard work and effort went into the book.”
