Author Salman Rushdie has won a tussle with Facebook over his profile page on the social network.

Rushdie’s run-in with Facebook stemmed from his insistence he be allowed to use his middle name — Salman, the one he is universally known by — instead of his first name — Ahmed.
Rushdie recounted the saga in a series of tweets on Monday. “Facebook deactivated my account because they thought I wasn't me,” Rushdie said in a post on his Facebook page. “Now they insist I call myself by the first name I have never used. What a bunch of morons.”He sent a photograph of his passport, but they "insisted I use the name Ahmed".
Rushdie then turned to what he called “ridicule by the Twitterverse”.
So, he threatened publicly to switch to Twitter. And that did the trick. Facebook promptly conceded.
