What might be good for one individual might not be the same for the other,” says DJ Piet Bervoets, who’s scheduled to play at Sunburn Noida 2013. As a prelude to his gig, Piet played his latest track, quirkily named 13.11.11, for the first time at a city club on Saturday.
Visibly excited about playing for Sunburn Noida, which was scheduled to take place on Sunday, Piet says, “I don’t know about the future of trance, but the fact that our music is available on the internet for people to download has given us great impetus today.”

In 1991, Rank 1 released an EP (extended play) containing tracks The Citrus Juicer and Black Snow. Their biggest commercial hit so far has been Airwave, which reached number 10 on the UK Singles Chart and number 25 on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play Chart.

Confessing that trance has been his childhood love, Piet says he has become open to music now. “I have been listening to trance since childhood; today, I can listen to Britney Spears as well! I love all sorts of music; just that it should be well produced. But then again, ‘well produced’ also depends on personal preferences.”
Ask him about his plans for the music fest and he says, “I always play what people know and would like to listen to; I try and avoid ‘difficult’ music at such large gatherings.”
What is Rank 1?
Rank 1 is a Dutch trance group formed in Netherlands in 1997. They are regarded as one of the originators of Dutch trance sound and have been credited for producing a number of dance floor hits since inception. Although the two members of the group, Benno De Goeij and Piet Bervoets, have been working together since before the formation of the group, Rank 1 was born in 1999, and became a commercial hit.
