If you thought biannual lifestyle exhibition, Vanity Fair — being held at Whispering Willows, Zirakpur — was just about couture, jewellery, home accessories, furniture, paintings, home line, carpets, kids’ products, crockery, designer mirrors, shoes, cards and bags, think again!
The first day of the two-day event provided us with a lot more than the above mentioned, which caught our shutterbug’s fancy — decked-up women, complete with well-manicured hands, the oh-so-sassy fashionistas of the city, and of course, their jazzy sense of dressing.
This time around, the fair saw many exhibitors from far-off places such as Mumbai, Lucknow, Agra and Dubai.
Agra girl Shurti Kaul Sachdeva, a first-time exhibitor, runs a footwear brand called Trishuli. Her collection is mostly about high heels and wedges. Standing tall on a very interesting pair of heels herself, Shruti shares, “The heels that I design are hand painted and have work of semi-precious pearls, brocade and embroidery.” Her collection ranges between R4,000 and R9,000.
Another first-timer, Mumbai girl Amika Kler, whose brand, Alag, has colourful photo frames, recycled wine bottles (turned into lights) and much more. “We have a range of colourful and quirky home accessories. We don’t abide by a pre-set format or patterns; our products have their own unique character and have been inspired by the eco-system at large. Our endeavour is to use earthy, re-usable home material. Each product is individually handcrafted to express our creativity,” says Amika.

While all mommies were busy shopping in style, Tiny Feet, Giant Leaps, came to their rescue by taking care of their children (ages 4 and above). Aman Patwalia, owner, Tiny Feet, Giant Leaps, says, “We keep children busy with activities such as spring crafts, goblins and fairies, amazing space etc. The activities are divided on an hourly basis, and we charge R300 per hour.”
