‘Let’s not lose another child’

Sooraj was arrested after Jiah’s mother handed a six-page letter, allegedly written by Jiah, in which she blames her boyfriend for abuse.

Filmmaker Sanjay Gupta, who is Aditya’s friend says, “One child has already gone. Now why are we killing the other child with this media trial? One needs to understand that Sooraj is a young boy and the stigma attached to this controversy is affecting his life both personally and professionally.”

Filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt says, “During a breakup, it is natural to feel depressed, but one needs to be strong and rational.” Agrees filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, “One should not punish the wrong guy...truth takes time to emerge. Also, it (the suicide letter) does not say she was raped by him... it says after the rape I didn’t deserve this,” he tweeted.
