There has been many a love story on beating hearts across the India-Pakistan border, but the need to reinforce the importance of peace between the two neighbouring countries doesn’t get stale. This time, the point has been taken up by a Punjabi filmmaker, Thakur Tapasvi in his upcoming Punjabi film Dil Pardesi Ho Gaya.
At the film’s music launch at Chandigarh Press Club, Sector 27, on Wednesday, Thakur, who has also written the story, said, “Dil Pardesi Ho Gaya is the love story of an Indian boy, played by Punjabi singer Inderjeet Nikku, and a Pakistani girl, played by Pakistani actress Sana Fakhar. The two meet in Bangkok but are later separated by the Indo-Pak border. The film would also highlight tragic tales of before and after the Partition. Importantly, it aims to give a positive coverage to both countries.”
Thakur says the manmade border between India and Pakistan hasn’t been able to disconnect the hearts of the Punjabis. “My film would also throw light on friends and people who were separated during Partition and kept hoping to meet one another. The film comes with a message of unity and love,” he added.
Releasing on September 20, Dil Pardesi Ho Gaya is a fictional story based on fictitious characters, but stands out for its vast star cast that includes Late Jaspal Bhatti, who shot for it until 20 days before his untimely demise. Others in the cast include Parikshat Sahni, Shakti Kapoor and Raza Murad. The music of the film is by Gurmeet Singh and Surinder Kohli, with singers such as Sonu Nigam, Shaukat Ali, Jaspinder Narula and Inderjit Nikku lending their voices to the songs.

It’s USP is a special appearance by Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar. The story is similar to Bollywood film Veer Zara, but it has a new angle.”
