The plot: Not a high-school drama! This is cold, vengeful and territorial Louisiana. It’s about the secret world of vampires who battle each other, humans and other dark creatures for control of the world. And for blood.

The variety of characters: Vampires, known for their cold skin and no heart. Werewolves, secretive and highly dangerous. Werepanthers who survive on meth, inbreeding and crime. Shapeshifters, who tend to end up naked a lot. Faeries, who have beauty, intelligence and strange powers – and mate a lot. Plus, necromancers and witches to raise the dead. No zombies, yet.

The stunning female cast: This show takes fantasy to another level. The Red Riding Hood with fangs: Jessica. The hot telepath faerie who can read your mind and whose blood is irresistible to vampires: Sookie. The Old European Catholic vampire (if you don’t beg, she bites): Violet. The vampire in corsets, hot pinks and angry snarls: Pam.
