The Fatehabad-based lad sung his heart out in the finale and walked away with the title of the fourth Voice of Punjab. The glittering event was held in the holy city of Amristar on Friday. Competing against five other finalists, Rahi won everyone over with his captivating voice. For him and his family, the victory was no less than a dream come true.

He says he swears by hard work and dedication and that is the reason for him having come so far. A post-graduate in music from Kurukshetra University, Rahi started singing when he was all of five years. “To exhibit talent, participation in school functions or youth festivals in college is a must, as such platforms give great confidence. When you get a pat on your back, it is always motivating,” says Rahi.

Sharing his experience at Voice of Punjab, he says the three months there polished him and offered a great experience. Being from a family with a background of music also helped nurture his talent. His father, Mukesh Rahi, is a music teacher at a local school in the city and his elder brother Rupesh Rahi has a Masters degree in music.

Rahi’s victory includes an opportunity to work as a playback singer, a Dubai trip, car and cash price of Rs 1 lakh.

The show was judged by Harbhajan Mann, Master Saleem, Sachin Ahuja and Atul Sharma. Amritsar’s Harmanpreet Kaur was the first runner-up of the contest, while Gurubinder Singh from Ludhiana was second runner-up.
