Been there, done that — bold debut with Dev D, psychotic biwi in Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, athlete-turned-dacoit’s wife in Paan Singh Tomar — pretty actor Mahie Gill has absolutely no regrets about her career choices.
Looking every bit sensuous in her nine-yard chiffon wonder, the famed ‘biwi’ was in Chandigarh on Friday to promote her upcoming film, Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster Returns (SBAGR).
Though a little late for the press con, the actor, joining co-star Jimmy Shiergill and producer Rahul Mittra, starts firing away, “This time around, the biwi is much more ambitious and aggressive. She can do anything to grab Saheb’s attention. The game gets deadlier!”
So, should we expect similar ‘intimate’ scenes in the sequel? “Sex scenes have been toned down. The script did not require them as much this time around,” she says.
Her character in SBAGR remains in an inebriated condition through the film, about which she says, “I tried my hand at method acting and consumed alchohol to get into the skin of the character.”
Not reluctant to talk about controversies surrounding her ‘method acting’, Mahie instantly adds, “There were rumours that I had taken to alcoholism because of the role. Media also ‘reported’ that I was undergoing rehabilitation. In fact, one story said I was found drunk, and my driver and liftman had to pick me up and drop me home. The story also had a quote from my father who passed away 15 years ago! I guess the media needs to do that because I’m a very boring person otherwise.”

Any Pollywood plans post Carry on Jatta? “I didn’t like any script yet. I am looking for a woman-oriented script, not ready to play ‘prop roles’ any more. I would love to do a film like Waaris if made in Punjabi,” shares she.
On the personal front, Mahie is in a committed relationship with a ‘shippie’ based in Goa. “I’m dating a guy who is pulled out of my dreams! He is not from the industry, and I have known him for the past many years. I am in a happy space as of now, and no, no wedding bells yet,” she confirms.
