After being nominated six times, Leonardo DiCaprio finally won an Oscar. The impossible (or was it only inevitable?) has happened, and we couldn’t help but make three wishes. If these come true, we can go back to living our lives.
A Suitable Girl
A lifetime ago in 1993, Vikram Seth gave us A Suitable Boy. A decade and a half later in 2009, Seth announced a sequel – he got an advance of over a million pounds but missed his deadline, had to return the money, get a new publisher and a new deadline: 2016, which has now been extended to 2017. In the meantime, we’ve read all we could about Seth’s mother (and inspiration for his protagonist) Justice Leila Seth for a rough idea of what happened to our beloved Lata. But we need the details!
A female POTUS
We had a woman head of the state in 1966. Britain got theirs in 1979. Iceland’s has had two (including an openly lesbian one), as has Germany, Ireland, Malta, Philippines, Nicaragua, Latvia, Panama, Finland, Chile, Costa Rica, Brazil, Croatia, South Korea, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan. It would be heartening to see Hillary Clinton trump xenophobic rivals to become the first woman President of the United States. High-time the White House got its First Gentleman as well.

The loopy script of his last outing Dilwale, marred the return of Bollywood’s most popular on-screen couple, Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol. It is time Shetty tried something different. Like making a movie with a story.
