NEW DELHI: Apple CEO Tim Cook on Wednesday launched the much-awaited iPhone 7 and 7(Plus).
Most importantly, in a first, the phones will be waterproof and dust resistant. The phone will be available in metallic colours, including rose gold, silver, gold, blue and piano black.
Cook also said that 1 billion iPhones have been sold till date.
The video game character Mario is also coming to iPhones. Cook said the popular Japanese game had been missing until now. Shigeru Miyamoto, described as the “Father of Mario” from Nintendo, said through a translator that “Super Mario Runs” is designed to be played one-handed. He, however, didn’t announce the price. This is the first time that the game will be available on any phone.
According to a representative from Niantic Labs, Pokémon Go has been downloaded over 500 million times since its launch this summer, and people have walked over 4.6 billion kilometers while playing the game. The app is scheduled for release this year.
Following the announcement, Apple shares jumped 20%.
