NEW DELHI: Indian drugmakers — Sun Pharma, Glenmark and Aurobindo — have won US approval to sell generic versions of the cholesterol pill Crestor, gaining permission to sell cheaper copies of an AstraZeneca Plc best-selling pill that brings in $7 million in US sales every day. The approval granted are for strengths of 5 mg, 10 mg, 20 mg and 40 mg. Crestor is used to lower cholesterol and fats in blood, thereby reducing chances of developing problems like heart disease and strokes.
