Air India on Thursday hit back at striking unions by withdrawing its recognition to the powerful Air Corporations Employees Union and the All India Aircraft Engineers Association, which went on a wildcat strike Tuesday and Wednesday.

In a statement, Air India said the two unions had resorted to the illegal strike causing harassment to innocent passengers, causing revenue loss and disruptions in flights nationwide besides to international destinations.
Air India also accused the two unions of indulging in regular violations of the Code of Discipline and of the settlements. The two unions were acting in a manner resulting in the disruption of the normal working of the company, and breach of industrial peace and harmony, it added.
