The civil aircraft manufacturer has designed a new arrangement which resembles bunk-beds where travellers are stacked one above the other (sometimes sideways) and filed a patent for it.

If the patent finds its way into the company’s production floor then your hand luggage lockers may get replaced with a “mezzanine seating area”.

“It is very important from an economic point of view to make optimum use of the available space,” Airbus wrote in the patent.
