Apple named world’s most valuable brand

Tech giant Apple has been named the top global brand of 2011. The California-based tech firm is currently valued at 70.6 billion dollars, which is almost one third greater than its closest rival Google, currently valued at 47.5 billion dollars.

Tech giant Apple has been named the top global brand of 2011, according to a report.

According to the Brand Finance Global study, the California-based tech firm is currently valued at 70.6 billion dollars, which is almost one third greater than its closest rival Google, currently valued at 47.5 billion dollars.

Software developer Microsoft, worth 45.8 billion dollars, was ranked third while IBM, worth 39.1 billion dollars stood fourth in the list, The Sun reports.

Walmart, worth 38.3 billion dollars, and Samsung, worth 38.2 billion dollars occupied fifth and sixth positions respectively.

General Electrics (GE), Coca-cola, Vodafone and Amazon occupied the next four positions.
