Belgian co to supply equipment to Tata Steel

Tata Steel said that it has entered into an agreement with Belgium-based engineering solutions provider CMI FPE to supply equipment for Tinplate Company of India expansion project.

Tata Steel on Saturday said that it has entered into an agreement with Belgium-based engineering solutions provider CMI FPE to supply equipment for Tinplate Company of India expansion project.

The European company will supply six high reversing cold mill to set up a 2 lakh MTPA project in TCIL, a statement from Tata Steel said.

Tata Steel Managing Director B Muthuraman signed the contract with CMI FPE's Jean-Marc Kohlgruber, it said.

"The six high reversing cold mill will supply 220,000 MTPA of full hard cold rolled coils for making tinplate and is a part of TCILs 2nd CRM expansion plan," the statement added.

The agreement between the two companies comprises two contracts including agreement for design, engineering, manufacturing and supply of equipment, and for handling at site, preservation, erection, testing, start-up and commissioning of the equipment supplied, among other things, it said.

The project is scheduled to be finished within 20 months and and the Belgian firm has to comply with the stringent requirement of quality and capacity, the statement said.
