BMW joins jamboree with premium motorcycles

German automotive giant BMW is the latest to enter the buzzing superbike segment in the country. The firm on Thursday announced that come December, it will sell bikes through two official importers.

German automotive giant BMW is the latest to enter the buzzing superbike segment in the country. The firm on Thursday announced that come December, it will sell bikes through two official importers.

It will initially offer only the premium 800 cc-plus mobikes that can be imported into the country without major modifications. First off the blocks would be the R and K series, and the superbike, S1000 RR.

All models will be priced over R18-20 lakh. “The sales activities now commencing with our two experienced BMW Group partners are of long-term significance to BMW Motorrad,” said Hendrik von Kuenheim, general director BMW Motorrad.
