Carlson Rezidor to open 20% of its properties in India by 2015
US-based Carlson Rezidor Hotels, which owns the Radisson and TGI Fridays brands, is increasing its room inventory in India with one in every five of its upcoming properties around the world slated to open in India, said its president and CEO, Hubert Joly. Tejeesh NS Singh & Sachin Dave report.
US-based Carlson Rezidor Hotels, which owns the Radisson and TGI Fridays brands, is increasing its room inventory in India with one in every five of its upcoming properties around the world slated to open in India, said its president and CEO, Hubert Joly.
"We would be opening 48 new hotels in India within next three years," Hubert Jolly, chief executive officer, Carlson told Hindustan Times. "Globally we have 240 hotels in the pipeline."
As of now the Minnesota-based hospitality and travel major has about 52 hotels, which is around 5% of its global portfolio. In India, Carlson has the presence through Radisson, Park Plaza, Country Inn and Radisson Blue.
Apart from the 48 hotels, the company has also tied up with a New Delhi-based company Bestech to develop 49 Park Inn hotels. For that, Carlson will invest $42 million (Rs 213 crore) in first two projects, which would come up in Gurgaon and Mohali. Both the hotels would be operational by 2015. The remaining hotels through a joint venture company would come up till 2024.
