Achutuni Sreenivasa Murty, Satyam's recently appointed chief executive officer, on Thursday morning sent out an email to thousands of Satyamites asking for their support as he announced a host of cost-cutting measures planned by the company to deal with its tight financial position.
"I am asking for your help to reduce, avoid or defer operational expenses wherever and whenever possible, beginning with the following items," Murty wrote.
Some of the cost-cutting measures mentioned in the mail are suspension of services like business travel, intra-city conveyance and hotel stays in cities where the company has guest-houses.
The mail also mentions that the company will follow the two-week bench period strictly for its onsite workers and that support staff in the delivery and operations department will be shifted to low-cost locations.
"I know this will mean personal sacrifices and inconveniences, but these should only be temporary... Once our situation eases and conditions allow, we will revert to normal practices", he wrote.
