After getting delayed for a long time, the new electricity tariff regulation for 2009-2014 is likely to be announced on Monday.
"The new tariff regulation to be applicable for five years will be announced on Monday (January 19) and can be accessed on our website," power regulator CERC Chairman Pramod Deo told PTI.
The regulations for terms and conditions of tariffs for 2009-14, designed to minimise micro management, were expected in the last week of December, 2008, but were delayed.
"It takes time to do things...Some formalities have to be completed before they are announced," Deo said.
CERC recently sought information on technical parameters from all power generating firms in order to ascertain the future demand for transmission services.
The regulator has asked the generating companies to coordinate with the central and state transmission utilities for transmission of electricity generated by it.
To facilitate the implementation of the provisions, CERC in its order dated June 4, 2008, had demanded the power generating companies to furnish the technical details in a notified format at least three years prior to the projected date of commissioning of first unit of the power station.
CERC would soon open its doors for an Inter-State Open Access system to procure power as part of measures to improve the energy crisis prevailing in various states of the country.
