Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Friday expressed confidence that the country’s growth during the second half of the current fiscal would be strong, given the 7.9 per cent growth registered in the July-September quarter despite a weak monsoon.

The challenge, however, would be to take the economy on to a higher growth path of 9 per cent, he said.
“Our road ahead is full of challenges. The chief amongst them is to take the economy back to 9 per cent per annum growth path,” he said.
Mukherjee said at a Ficci conference that the high growth registered by the country shows the efficacy and strength of the stimulus measures introduced by the government to tackle the financial crisis.
