CIL factor drags sensex

The benchmark Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange today lost 186 points to end below 20,000 as investors liquidated holdings to invest in the mega IPO of Coal India Ltd.

The benchmark Sensex of the Bombay Stock Exchange on Tuesday lost 186 points to end below 20,000 as investors liquidated holdings to invest in the mega IPO of Coal India Ltd.

The index fell sharply in the last 30 minutes of trade to settle at 19,983, reflecting a loss of 186 points, or 0.9 per cent.

The Nifty lost 49 points to close at 6,027.

“There was normal profit booking along with some selling by the institutions that led to the fall,” said, Divyesh Shah, CEO, Indiabulls Securities.
